Red Balau is a very durable Mahogany from Indonesia. This hardwood's natural resistance to shrinkage, splintering and checking has made it a terrific wood for use as an ideal and beautiful decking material.

Hard Wood Decking
This managed-growth, plantation grown hardwood from Indonesia is twice as hard as normal Mahogany with less color variation than other hardwoods. Red Balau can be finished to maintain a "furniture" type appearance, or be allowed to weather to a silver gray finish.

• Kiln-dried.
• Extremely dense, tight-grained wood.
• Deep red with a minor amount of fine brown lines.
• Surfaced-four-sides. Remains smooth and splinter free.
• Premium selected heartwood – no knots, no defects.
• Four (4) times harder than Redwood.
• Naturally resistant to rot or decay.
• Virtually maintenance free.
• A reddish-brown wood that will fade to a weathered silver gray if left untreated.To retain the rich color, a high quality penetrating oil finish with ultraviolet inhibitors is recommended.
  

Environmentally Responsible
Red Balau decking comes from managed-growth forests that are replanted in a program of sustainable agriculture. This program is overseen, coordinated and supervised by the Forestry Department of the Indonesian Government and is funded by the International Monetary Fund.
