A: Yes, like any other wood, unless finished with a sealant or some other coating that protects it from the damaging UV rays from the sun, your Ipanema hardwood will gray over time.

A: The best protection for exterior hardwood decking or wood finishes is an oil paint, but no one really wants to use that on beautiful exotics hardwood decking. The most recommended finishing option is a penetrating oil stain. It can be sprayed on or brushed on. Ipanema decking comes with a factory-finish - the factory sprays the selected coating on all four sides as well as the ends of the boards, offering you extra-protection. (see photo below)

A: Depending upon where the decking is located and its exposure to the elements, a new coating should be re-applied annually or every couple of years at the most to insure the durability and beauty of your wood.
