Angelim Pedra, used as a
hardwood flooring product, comes from the rain
forests of Brazil, Guyana, and Surname. It's common
name is the Angelim Pedra tree and it grows to
reach 50 to 100 ft in height.
This wood flooring product is produced by local
natives specifically from the Angelim Pedra
tree.
Use:
Angelim Pedra is recommended for use as a hardwood flooring
for homes or other buildings with heavy
human traffic. Angelim Pedra hardwood flooring
offers one of the most durable woods on the market
and will resist signs of use while providing long
lasting beauty.
General characteristics:
The Angelim Pedra Heartwood is yellow when fresh
and darkens on exposure to an orange-brown to dark
brown. The texture is coarse to very coarse; luster
low to medium; grain is straight to strongly
interlocked.
The Angelim Pedra Hardwood is easy
to moderately difficult to work with. It is
moderately easy to glue using care and the flooring finish
being satisfactory. Clear oil works best to bring
out its color and help with longevity.
Durability:
Angelim Pedra is very durable as rated by field
exposure trials. Heartwood is also rated moderately
to good resistant to attack by decay, fungi and
termites. Angelim Pedra hardwood is resistant to
water.
